Russia is developing its own EUV lithography technology with an 11.2 nm wavelength approach, diverging from ASML's established 13.5 nm standard. The project, led by scientist Nikolay Chkhalo, aims to create more cost-effective machines with lower throughput than ASML.

Title says "Russia develops ...", but if you read the article it doesn't even say that they started the researcb. This is akin to saying that I will be a doctor, while I am in kindergarten.

The only interesting things in this article are the type and what it's goals are, smaller, cheaper scale, to likely allow many others to use it around the world, which is a good idea.

China pouring in hundreds of billions and stealing IP whenever it can: I couldn't get anywhere near ASML.
Unknown Russian, in his broken country:
I'm a magician and I'm going to pull an alternative to ASML out of my hat.

If they are still at the step "Start with research: Nail the essential tech and test out components.", it's going to take over 10 years to get a machine produced...

Another thing in corruption schemes, there will be no results but stolen money of russian people, which will be transfer into bank accounts of US and EU, and never will be arrested or sanctioned, it is part of finance system of the west getting money from peanut cuntries such Russia and others.

So they can't build roads yet, but are into nano? Skipping several layers of evolution

So true. Them and china only have thaousands of tsarv6.5 and they want to try nano. Lol. They need to make millions of that first.

Lot of brain dead main stream media aka lame/shame stream media followers low IQ intellect forget about the shambolic corruption and wider ponzi ran by the US and the wider EU block.

Grow up and read independent news media outlets.

What a bunch of B.S.

You mean like Intel, which skipped over all nodes since 14nm in a half-assed state (which is 10nm and downwards...) and having bad yields, not capable to produce for the mass market, and now think 18A magically works out of the box?

what i know about russia,
vodka
porno models
weapons
but i never knew that they can make any tech

I'm impressed on how out of touch some of the comments are, I'll take it mostly from Americans. I'm not in anyway associated with Russia or China, but it's idiotic to disregard them as relevant. For many years USSR was equal to USA in space exploration and until recently needed for all satellite launches. China holds most of the patents in AI and chip design (just Google it) and it's very short sighted to regard them as copy cats.

Is it doable - probably 'Yes'. At least the theory seems sound. But to do this in Russia!? They could not create anything worthwhile when they had access to western tech. A lot of money meant for domestic chipmaking disappeared in local corruption schemes.
So now they will try to do the same thing but in HARD mode. Yeah, I am skeptical of their success in this...
