Acer is upgrading its Swift Edge 16 premium business laptop ahead of Computex 2023. The Acer Swift Edge 16 features AMD Ryzen 7040 APUs with up to Radeon 780M graphics and a 16:10 120 Hz WQXGA+ OLED panel among other features. Acer has also equipped the Swift Edge 16 with a QHD 1440p webcam and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity.

The previous gen came with WQUXGA 3840 x 2400, high-brightness (400 nits) display. So this is a downgrade at least in terms of pixel density.
Would be nice if you mentioned that part in the article.
It's highly likely that 16GB/1TB (or 512GB) might be the base configuration.

Yes, but 60 Hz in all three configs (6800U, 6850U, 7735U). This year it's 120 Hz OLED.

I have mentioned it. "While the previous Swift Edge offered a 16:10 UHD+ OLED panel, the 2023 Swift Edge 16 makes do with just a WQXGA+ (3200 x 2000) OLED display."

+1 +1 true from 60 to 120Hz is double more than enough for an Ultrabook. Acer has just hit the table with this AMD Zen 4 laptop not only because it has Phoenix with AI artificial intelligence, but also because of RDNA 3 and the surprise Wiffi 7 with which it is planned to end the cables. I see the ultrabook as somewhat expensive but really, as I see the characteristics, it has everything necessary for many years USB 4.0 + HDMI 2.1 + 16" Amoled screen + a weight of 2.4lb.
We will see how the competition reacts but it can become a best seller

I guess I missed it xD

So happy they added the numeric keypad this time around. Been waiting for a Lenovo Thinkbook 16 refresh, but haven't seen any news on that this year.

Let's set a timer for how long it will take this panel to show up on panelook :P

Jokes aside, looking forward to seeing how it compares to the previous!

Flickering AMOLED with low color resolution vs IPS with same declared resolution, with a burn-in resource of no more than 7-8k hours (15k+ for IPS). With a glossy panel - all your glare, your eyes will get tired. With a real contrast that is 50-60 times lower than stated by marketers (and does not give any advantage in office/daylight vs. IPS with a contrast of 1500:1). And poor color accuracy...do you really need such a screen?

And to complete the picture - a damaged numpad that cannot be used, like in other idiotic Acer/Asus/MSI/Gigabyte series.

There is no point in writing about other shortcomings.

How do you know this will be the case?

I agree this is a problem with RG/BG phone panels, and I agree with your other points. I haven't, however, seen a laptop AMOLED so far that wasn't a full-RGB panel.

Acer swift edge 16 (sfe16-43) with: Wiifi 7 + Ryzen 7 7840U Phoenix + RDNA 3 + USB 4 + HDMI 2.1 + DDR5 +OLED at 120hz very few laptops have such a high frequency + Artificial intelligence.
At last an OEM that does things by listening to the public, this ultrabook will be a BEST SELLER.
