MicroSD cards have been getting steadily faster over the last few years with sequential speeds that compete with 2.5-inch hard drivers and improvements in IOPS that make them more able to handle application storage. The newly announced SanDisk Extreme 400 GB is more than 50 percent faster than smaller capacity Sandisk Ultra UHS-I MicroSD cards.

Are these MLC and are they good enough to be used in dashcams ?

The Extreme 400 GB? Android phones and action cams were two of the main areas they were promoting, but they didn't go into detail on longevity comparisons to the Ultra series for constant recording scenarios (e.g. dash cam). It might be better to stick with cards advertised with write performance designed for this purpose, I believe SanDisk lists theirs as 'Endurance' or 'Surveillance' or something to that effect.

I'll see if I can get any confirmation on TLC vs MLC.

@Francois - I haven't been able to get SanDisk's media contact to clarify for me whether this uses SLC or MLC.
