Google hat auf dem Google I/O 2015 in einer Live-Demo das modulare Smartphone mit steckbaren Einzelkomponenten im Baukastenformat namens Project Ara als funktionsfähigen Prototypen gezeigt. Auch ein erstes Foto wurde geknipst.
