Sony yesterday announced that starting in January 2028, the company will stop releasing games on physical discs. Many thought that enough criticism might convince Sony to reconsider its decision, but a new report suggests that this is extremely unlikely.

People likely pick the cheapest console from Sony (disk version) and browse Walmart and impulse buy, and hence a disc market stays alive.

But if that option is removed, and they want NBA2K29, they will learn to adopt if that's their only option.

I haven't bought a disk in decades.  Still can play all my old games off Steam and Playstation.  Far more convenient.  I wouldn't care if half my library disappeared, I"m unlikely to play many games from before 2010 anyway.  Theyw ere fun when they were released, but just painful now.

Let go.  It feels good.
