Former executive producer at BioWare, Mark Darrah, talked about how EA's approach to remasters and remakes put a spanner in the works for pitches from the former for multiple Dragon Age titles.

Sad... a remaster of Dragon Age Origins would have been nice.

Though it makes sense why EA was against it. Since DA:O was made in an outdated game engine, it would require being ported to another game engine. Which can cost a lot. And even if they did that, they would probably want to reuse the remastered assets for a second game. And that would be DA2. But since no one really liked DA2 in the past, it would probably be a flop again, and thus not worth the effort (and DA3 doesn't really need a remaster in the first place).


I still think they (Bioware) pitched the wrong way. They should have only pitched a Dragon Age Origins remaster - without any addons (it had a lot addons, around 10+). And then later sell 2-3 bigger addon-packs (the former addons being remastered), and which could have counted as a 'second or third games'.

Anything else (DA2 and DA3 remaster) sounds like utter madness. And thus would be no surprise that EA declined that. But somehow I'd like to know if the fault is partially on Bioware's side for pitching a megalomaniac project, instead of a reasonable suggestion...?
