For a limited time, the Pixel Buds Pro 2 are down to under $200 on the Google Store and Amazon. The earbuds are also expected to get a new color when the Pixel 10 series launches.

What even is the point of renting stuff like this for $94.5 per year? Unless you pamper them to extremes their batteries won't hold any significant charge after two years, and for equal money you get a pair of better (sound-quality) and far more durable wired IEMs. But yeah, yeah, wire bad, wireless good, I know. Brainwashing at its finest and people happily buy into that. Also directly creating ewaste while simultaneously having mouths full of green this, green that...

"The Pixel Buds Pro 2 is nearing its first year anniversary soon, and while Google has no plans of launching a successor soon (not that it needs one yet)" what a strange claim. nbc has no idea what's possible or under development, I presume no idea of Google's marketing plans, and clearly no real idea of what user's are looking for. This compulsion to editorialize really just irks rather than being useful.
