A US military denfense agency could transmit energy across 8.6 kilometres during 60 seconds. This marks the longest distance achieved in laser wireless transmission. The agency used an infrared laser beam to transmit 800 watts of electricity,

Let's be clear, there was NO ELECTRICITY transmitted wirelessly. A laser consists of photons, not electrons. This is just replacing natural sunlight to power PV cells. It would still be useful in some situations but requiring direct line of sight between transmitter and receiver reduces practicality a lot as does laser spreading in the atmosphere.
