Beyerdynamic has unveiled the DT 990 PRO X open-back headphones featuring STELLAR.45 drivers for monitoring high-resolution music productions. Velour cushions, a padded headband, and a lightweight build enable all-day use.

I have the DT 990 Pro (250 Ohm version, and without the X) and they sound great.

Treble is a bit too harsh at times, and bass could be a bit stronger, but in general, the sound quality is over the top.

I also have a pare of Sony WH-1000XM4 (totally different kind of headphones, closed-back, noise cancellation, etc.), and the sound is totally different.
Those Sony are perfect for airplanes, trains, metro, etc. but when plugged into either my Korg G1B Air, or my Onkyo HT-S5915, the sound is terrible and they give me claustrophobia, even when deactivating noise cancelling. I still use them A LOT, especially for bass heavy music, on noisy environments, etc. but I definitely don't use the XM4 at home.

So anyway, I got the Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and they are perfect for listening on a quiet place (at home). The "open back-ness" of these is so impressive that sometimes, after an hour or so, I have to touch my head to confirm whether I still have them on or not. I can hear everything outside as if they weren't on, which for this case it's perfect, though not perfect if there are people around you, as you might bother them because they will hear everything very clearly, even at low volumes.

If the DT 990 Pro X are as good or better than the non-X, they will be a great buy; always taking into consideration their use-case: that they are VERY-open-back headphones.
