With the new Framework Laptop models, you do not have to buy a new laptop every few years. Just replace the motherboard and CPU with a newer version, add more RAM or storage, maybe even swap the display with a 4K OLED, and you have a totally up to date laptop, plus you help reduce e-waste in the long term.

As nice as this project is, I don't think manufacturers such as Dell, Lenovo, Apple etc will join it. Large corporations don't give damn about e-waste, they only case about money and profit. And one way to do that is to get the end user stuck in their ecosystem as a revenue stream for future upgrades or changes. The more non-standard the built is, the better for them. Nowadays they even solder the RAM and storage to the boards, using the lame excuse about laptop thickness.
The idea of having a modular framework is really nice though.

If it comes in a convertible form factor and with a ThinkPad-type keyboard, TrackPoint included, I may very well be sold.

Very good idea and I believe companies will be forced to evolve to this as our environment deteriorates more and more.

If they ever produce 15" or 17" I'd gladly buy some just to support.

Very very smart concept! I really hope this takes of. Pine64 has been doing similar things which has worked out nicely.

Would love to see the option of adding a ThinkPad T14s/X1 Extreme-like keyboard with AMD Ryzen 7 5800HS and oboard graphics.

Very tricky to be competitive in the laptop market with so many trash options.
