We installed Genshin Impact on the slowest Android 10 tablet we could find just to see what would happen. It wasn't pretty

If you're looking for a mobile game to bring your fancy $1000 smartphone to its knees, then Genshin Impact would be it. The game is practically unplayable on budget Android devices with unsteady frame rates and visual bugs galore.

Bullshit. Game runs fluently on snapdragon 660 and stronger devices.
It also runs well on laptops with integrated HD 620. GF920MX can run it even in fullHD without noticable frame drops

Well clearly its not working as intended on this tablet is it?

Too bad the game is let down by stamina system, reflects in its 5.2/10 rating on bilibili.

It's let down by being a Zelda clone isn't it?

Yeah, I agree
It's the heaviest mobile game
But it's still a mobile game, with lots of presets for lower end hardware

I tried it out, and was thoroughly let down. Story is uninspired, quests are boring, traversing the world is a pain in the arse with stamina that runs out within 10 sec of sprinting, combat is lackluster, quality of open world doesn't match its size; after having discovered pretty much all the areas the atmosphere feels kinda same in all of them. For what it's worth, I wasn't majorly impressed with BOTW either. But this game is just plain underwhelming.

And all that before I even get to the elephant in the room: it's method of monetization. Players not acquainted with "gacha", be warned. There's a high chance you'll be disappointed with it. And I've recently found out, Mihoyo is one of the stingiest of all gacha game developers.

Yeaah.. No.
The main story is quite interesting and has its share of twists and turns considering it's in its infant stage and is yet to be expanded on with free updates. The side quests and world quests take you through all the specter of emotions, ranging from hilarious to tragic, some are indeed quite memorable. Traversing the world, which is a joy to behold, is an amazing and relaxing experience, and that's when opting to stroll around instead of using the fast travel system. Stamina takes a minimum of effort to upgrade to a much more wieldy number. Combat is very fun and engaging and done in such a way as to make sure there are no weak characters, only weak teams. Characters and NPC's all have a personality, there isn't a single generic NPC, they all have stories to tell and problems to deal with, the world simply feels alive. And given your other complaints, I very much doubt you have discovered all the areas in the game.

To each their own, I guess! I am in love with the game and can't believe such a high quality product is free! It's obviously no Witcher 3, but it is my personal GOTY so far.. I'm almost sad Cyberpunk 2077 is just around the corner now. And I've never played a Gacha game before, but Genshin doesn't require you to spend money at all! I haven't spent a dime yet and had tons of free stuff. Spending money is just for those players who want to indulge themselves and min-maxers I guess. Oh, and content creators of course..

I think the apparent reason Genshin does those glitches is the GPU on the device used.Mediatek Chipset users are probably out of luck,so am I

I don't know what kind of 1000 dollar smart phone you are using because I have a galaxy S10+ and it runs perfect even in max settings.

My LG V60 ThinQ runs it perfectly on Max settings. Although it's not necessarily a budget device. But only costs about 600 dollars though. It's got a Snapdragon 860 in it I believe

Lance the gamer "tech"

Lol haters gonna hate...
Didn't get Venti on your 15th pull?
I play on my pixel 2xl - - - - 150$$ Amazon unlocked
And my old HP envy I bought years ago at best buy both at high settings with no problems

Of course a cheep 30$ tablet can't run it, they can't even run thier own operating systems well enough to be useable.

People, don't chince on tech because Walmart is having a sale do the research...

I'm not sure about melting a $1,000 smartphone with this game. If you want to melt a SD865+ device, try TauCeti Vulkan or Madout City II.
I have a unlocked LGv40 i got brand new for $250 over a year ago and it runs the game maxed out just fine. Being that the Adreno 630 in the SD845 has 512 ALU's at 710MHz it really shouldn't have any issues.
The Adreno 630 has exactly half the ALU's as the Adreno 650 in the SD865/+ (1,024 ALU's). Qualcomm started to use 2GB's of V-ram in the Adreno 630 and they still use 2GB's in the Adreno 640 and 650. Of course they won't ever tell you that. They won't even tell us the ALU count. But, luckily we found a way. The Adreno 530 had 256 ALU's, the 630 got bumped up another 256 giving it 512 ALU's and the Adreno 640 got another 256, giving it 768 ALU's which is rated at 900GFlops. Did i lose you guy's yet.
The overclocked Adreno 640 in the SD855+ was the first SOC with a mobile GPU to pass the 1Teraflop of FP32 compute barrier. Not sure why they didn't market that. A 1 Teraflop GPU is more than enough for mobile. The stock Adreno 630 rated at 730 GFlops is plenty still yet. I think the SD845 and Adreno 630 is still a strong combo in gaming because it has the 2GB's of V-ram. That way it doesn't have to take from the CPU's pool when the V-ram buffer runs out. I noticed that on the Adreno 530 which has 1GB of V-ram. That with a 2K screen is primed for 17fps territory when your trying for 30.
The Adreno 530 GPU was plenty fast enough at 1080p but, newer more graphically demanding games would cause it to chug. And it wasn't anything to do with thermals because on every device i get i set the the thermal thresholds way up or change the thermal.conf.file's temperature parameters so the GPU never throttle's.
I actually ROOTed the LGv40 with the ROG Phone 1 2.96GHz clock mod and got the 4HP cores running at 2.96GHz and the Adreno 630 running at 825MHz giving just over 850Gflops of FP32 . Also, uppng the thermal throttling limits or removing them all altogether. It runs unoptimised games a little better but, not much of difference worth the battery drain. What worked well was giving the LGv50 the ROG Phone II clock mod treatment. Since the v50 has a 4000mAh battery and one of the densest Vapor Chambers made, a overclock to the CPU and GPU wouldn't hurt to much. So, i now have a LGv50 with a SD855+. I could tell the difference on that SOC. If i were looking for a new phone with a fast chipset and some gaming chops, i would look at some SD855+ devices. Either that or a cheap SD865 device. If you can't afford a new phone get a older flagship. I still use my LGv40 daily and it hasn't stopped me from playing any game or running any app. Take this info however you want. Just spreading the Knowledge, not misinformation.

Wow cheapest tablet ...what you bought it on ebay for $1? Just to say the game is a graphic needy beast? *claps* dude you just said you bought the cheapest tablet to see if it could play and it rendered nearly everything but the faces!! Like, how stupid do you think gamers are!? I mean at least Bethesda had the decency or lack thereof to troll their fanbase AFTER making beloved games and articles....youre like a watered down IGN. Did Raid shadow legends pay you for this article? They did didn't they??? Genshin impact is a graphic heavy monster that can't be played on any device...RAID can play Raid shadow legends today...there you have your tagline!! Goodness sakes....

lol! Had a good laugh ;D
But you know if this were some sort of "Can it run Crysis" situation I'd agree with you, but it looks so much like that Zelda which is a Switch game, and Nintendo never pushes graphics, and the screenshots I saw are basically PSP grade, which would be almost 15 years old...so if it's a "graphic heavy monster" I'd be expecting the slime sort of "monster" by today's standards, or it would just be really bad optimization.

You might as well have said "Yeaah.. No", and I'd have understood well enough. That all that you said in defense of your "personal GOTY" is entirely your own conjecture, just as my opinions of it are my own. So yes, it is indeed a case of "To each their own", which I completely agree with. We just got different degrees of enjoyment out of the game. I got extremely little. You seem to have been beyond impressed with it. So let's agree to disagree, because I don't share your view on its lore, characters, world, or monetization being well executed. I judge a game based on what it can offer in its current form, not what it can when "expanded upon".

Also, please don't assume how little of the game world I might have covered before giving my verdict. If it came to that, I could similarly assume you haven't gone too far into game to not yet have seen how the game incentivizes players to spend real money. The game simply didn't impress me, full stop. Time is valuable, and as someone new to gacha, I can't stand a "free" game that has less content than a standalone title and the only thing it has to offer after the honeymoon phase are boring repetitive grinds in hopes of making itself the players' habit and squeezing some money out of them in the long run. I am of the opinion that gacha aren't recommendable in world full of equally good, if not better pay once or even free games that aren't built from the ground up to revolve around that predatory model.
