OLED is often seen as superior to IPS and for good reason—its colors and especially black levels remain unmatched against even the best IPS options available. Nonetheless, it falls short in a few areas worth mentioning.

Wish more folks would weigh the pro's and con's carefully.  The PWM, imo weighs painfully on the response time advantage.  For the moment a fast (when you can get them) IPS seems to wear better on a users eyes over time than OLED does.  But the flashy OLED seems to lure people in.  Hope people think carefully and fairly it's nice to have choices.

Strange, I've heard OLED has yet to solve image retention, ultimately a form of ghosting. Either they double the response speed and insert black frames which have a huge impact on maximum brightness, or people have to put up with ghosting.

Also, the article says displaying all black at maximum brightness uses 3W more than all white at maximum brightness, I assume that's a typo...
