The Pixel 3a ties in with the virtues of the Google Nexus devices of the past: It is compact, offers good performance and it is affordable. But there is one important difference between the Google Pixel 3a and the old Nexus smartphones. Find out what it is in our review.

In the end this is not much more than Google jumping on the cooperate greed bandwagon that Apple and Samsung love so much (So much for "Don't be evil"). Look at the Essential PH-1, a phone with top specs sold at a reasonable price by a very small company. If Essential can do it, there is no reason that the big companies can't sell top tier phones for a reasonable price too. This whole idea that you should pay a thousand dollars for a phone every 9 months does nothing but make sure that good phones are not an option to a lot of people and further the greed of these large cooperations.

We cannot quite understand why Google did not include an SD card slot on this mid-range device with only 64 GB of internal storage.

It's because Google wants Pixel users to use their Cloud service. All Pixels from the first generation up until now are never equipped with SD card slot. If there's an SD card slot, users would go for the SD card and would most likely never use Google Cloud. So to force Pixel users to use Google Cloud, the SD card slot is eliminated from Pixel phones.

Why is it that some reviews don't have the complete battery life? There's only a WiFi test. Also, it would be helpful to have a page which lists the battery life readings of all the devices (the way GSMArena has it). Thanks!

For me a plastic case -  a well made one like the one we have here, anyway - is a plus not a minus. To each their own I suppose.

Good informative in-depth review. The Pixel 3A was $299 today on Amazon, so it's really an adequate choice for those who want good value for money.

QuoteGoogle uses pulse-width modulation (PWM) to regulate the Pixel's screen brightness. The frequency of the flickering is quite low at between 88.65 and 271.7 Hz
I'm a little confused by this information. Isn't PWM supposed to operate with a fixed frequency?
