I'm observing strange glitch in new Compact 17": when win 10 restarts, screen remains black (no backlight) until win logon page appear, where it powering on and windows boot as usual. So, no Schenker logo, no HDD password, no BIOS.

After full power off everything works as expected. Also, everything boot fine with Discrete graphics enabled in BIOS option. But if I choose MSHybryd than I see black screen.

Fast startup in win power option turned off, nothing interesting in windows logs. What else I can do with it? I can't enter HDD password when it restarts, so it a bit annoying..

Hi rusm,

that sounds complicated. Might be related to the HDD Password option. This function is badly standardized, that's why Microsoft is pushing everyone to use TPM and Bitlocker instead.

Please send me an e-mail with:
- Video of a Cold Boot
- Video of a Reboot with this issue
- HWiNFO64 report file

For the video upload, you can use wetransfer.com or similar service.

Thank you!

Thank you, Tom.
Seems that I solved it: after windows update of Intel UHD 630 driver, black screen problem is gone. It was not connected to HDD password, I disabled it for testing.

It strange, that Win downloaded more old driver 25.20.100.6617 / 08.03.2019 instead of installed 26.20.100.6709 / April 18, 2019 (installed by myself from Schenker flash that come with my laptop). But now it works.

BTW, what a recommended way to update drivers for new Compact 17? Download from https://www.mysn.de/driver/1_XMG/XMG_PRO17_XPR17M18/Drivers/Driver/ ?
But drivers in this location are way different from drivers in USB stick that come with my laptop. For example here is ControlCenter.zip v2.0 that does not work on my system, instead of v3.0 from USB stick that works OK... Also, I have 18 different drivers on stick, and only 9 in FTP.

Your link is for the old "M18" (Middle 2018) version - you have purchased the Middle 2019 version.

The whole structure of the Download-Area is going to get a big overhaul in the next few weeks. It will be more closely aligned with our deployment system and easier to understand.

Yes, Microsoft is taking more and more responsibilities in pushing driver updates onto OEM systems. Sooner or later, the whole idea of looking for Driver updates on manufacturer websites is supposed to become obsolete. Even the Control Center 3.0 (which is customized for our laptops) is supposed to be rolled out via Windows Update in the future.

Unfortunately, on rare occasions, Microsoft drops the ball and pushes out drivers that are either outdated or incompatible with certain OEM systems. When we notice such an occasion, we send Microsoft a report and they usually fix it in real-time, without waiting for the next patch day.
