Xiaomi has now built up a proud selection of notebooks alongside its Mi smartphones. Our focus for this review is the Mi Notebook 15.6, which lacks the Pro, Air or Gaming signifiers of the Chinese manufacturer's other notebooks. The Notebook 15.6 is the company's cheapest and entry-level device, but it is generally unavailable in the Western world save for a few shops that carry the device. Read on to see how the Xiaomi Mi Notebook 15.6 with its Intel Core i5 processor fares in our detailed review.

Just one quick correction: RAM slots are indeed under the metal cover that is easy to open. There are two slots and laptop should easily accept 2x8GB setup.

Hello all,

First, good article.
In the first 2 years with this Chinese laptop (I installed myself an English version with a little effort) I was rather satisfied, but the long term life seems to be poor. After 3 years the keyboard now has issues with certain keys (can't press e / a / shift regularly) , and more annoying, the laptop battery runs empty overnight when in sleep mode or quick power-off button, so I would have to complete shut it down every day (not sure the problem then is not there). So rather disappointed that after a little over 3 years this seems to be the max useable time. I do admit I use it on a daily base for several hours.... But I doubt to buy a new Xiaomi again (I have phones, tv box and tv also from Xiaomi)
