Chronos optimized. Samsungs 17-inch Chronos wants to eliminate the weaknesses of it's 15.6-inch brother by improving more than just the display. Big surprise: Crystal clear sound using a subwoofer.

Looks amazing! I've checked everywhere, though. Can't find a release date or a place where they're going to be sold. This is vital information! Really really important!

Hi there!

Is there another HDD slot inside? (SSD is extremely desired :) )

Good review, and very thorough.  This is a very good laptop.  It's lighter than HP Envy, Asus N Series or Dell XPS (I own an XPS 17 by the way).  It's very quiet - 31db on idle mode. 40 db when playing games.  BTW the screen is awesome and lot better then the 15 inch chronos display. Even better than the HP Envy which has some red orange problems.  Here's some more info you need to know: http://www.squidoo.com/samsung-chronos-review

beautiful laptop, wondering if there is a 15inch version with the same display?

What about the Samsung Notebook Serie 7 Chronos 700Z5C? Is it like the sister version of this 17 inch model, but in 15.6" screen? I am trying to find some reviews of that model.. so far, found nothing.

I wish the UK version would be released soon!! I see the model code on the Samsung website but no sign of it yet!!

I've just order one of these (the 700Z7C-S02UK). Already I'm nervous because of Samsung's misrepresentations and confusing model numbers. For example, the 700Z7C-01UK sold here in the UK does not come with a mini DisplayPort (something that's a deal breaker for me). I'm also quite disappointed that the UK (and it appears the EU) models also only have the nVidia 650M with 1GB of RAM (instead of the 2GB that the US model has). This kind of fragmentation is a bad thing. I even visited the UK's flagship store in Stratford to buy it in-store (even if it meant paying an extra £100). However, when I looked at the unit, the mini DisplayPort was missing. Instead, the model had a mini VGA. The salesperson was insisting it was a mini DisplayPort. I explained that I use mini DisplayPorts every single day, and I know what a mini VGA is.

I've also read elsewhere that while some of the models claim to support WiDi, they actually don't. See here for details:

I'm not sure what Samsung's game is. When you sell a £1,000 laptop, you should make sure that the full specification is listed for the model the consumer is buying, not for some other model.

Anyway, mine should be delivered in the next week. I'll return here and let anyone else who's interested know about the real specs of the 700Z7C-S02UK.

Bought in Augusr 2012. Power adapter blew after 2 weeks had to buy a new one for $99. After 6 months hard drive crashed and will just hang with blue hdd light on. Ran chkdsk had several bad clusters and scan ran for 24 hours without completing. It was the best laptop I had performance wise but for $1300 it only lasted 6 months.

I think the heating problem matters a lot i feel my hand numbing after hours of hard work, cause the heating in the laptop, i think the cooling system is not very good

I've owned mine for 2 years. If you noticed. This was right when the 3rd gen i7 came out, since then, samsung products have gotten worse and the price has went up on them. Word of advice, this was the model samsung doesn't want to repair for the specific reason they screwed themselves. Never had a problem with my laptop. Blue screen, but it automatically repairs itself usually. Had to replace the keyboard, that's it. From using it too much rofl!

Alias, I have the same BSOD problem as well. Does yours usually occur after an hour of use or so? I've narrowed it down to the soldered ram on the mainboard. Only way to fix it is to buy a new board which sucks because both the CPU and GPU are also soldered on so you're paying $400+ for the repair.
