Expensive high-end fun. MSI sells a lavishly equipped gaming notebook for almost EUR 2200. A BluRay burner and two mSATA SSDs set up in a RAID array are found under the hood of the GT70. The matte Full HD screen, the illuminated keyboard and the good sound system are also impressive. Reason enough for contenders to panic?

The price you guys listed seems way bloated. I found a similar version (12Gb memory, no Blueray) at 1,550$! Which is almost half the price you've mentioned.

Also - can you please review the GE60?

Yes, this is a super gaming laptop despite of its little weakness. I can say overall this laptop is bery best for gaming today, and here is the brother which can be an alternative check this out http://newlaptop2012.info/msi-gt783-625us-17-3-inch-laptop/

"The access rates aren't awe-inspiring either: 0.4 ms (read) or 0.6 ms (write) are poor for an SSD, and frankly they're even slow by mechanical hard drive standards (where .12ms is average)."

The line about mechanical hardrives is wrong, their average access time is closer to 12ms, not 0.12ms.

It is interesting in the speaker section of the review of this GT70, "Only a few notebooks achieve comparable sound (e.g. the Toshiba Qosmio X770). "

However, in the Qosimo X770 review, it does not mention the GT70 so it doesn't go both ways. "Very few notebooks, such as the Dell XPS 15, can hold their own against the sound output of the Qosmio X770."

The MSI GT70 should have come with a 230W AC adapter! The 4700MQ or better processor (and upgradable to the 4940MX) with the high end GPU such as 680m, 780m, it's not enough and the laptop grabs power from the battery in order to run the GPU and CPU if both are at full load.
Now, in 2015, Alienware is doing the same thing with their 2015 R2 laptops with the 980m and Haswell CPUs. Luckily it can support a 230W and customers can get it for free if they complain, but it should be standard!
