The HP HyperX Omen Max 16 is one of the few gaming laptops not chasing the ultrathin and light trend in the name of faster overall performance. It is consequently one of the heavier and louder options available.

When I saw the "460 W AC adapter", I thought: "Let me guess, Intel CPU"? scrolled to specs and there it was indeed: Intel, when better node?

4800 bucks + taxes on top? and are you really going to carry this ("large and heavy")? Maybe get a desktop PC instead (especially if you already have one, then upgrading only the GPU will be cheaper (modern games that need a faster GPU are GPU-bound in the first place, so staying on an, say, AM4 platform is fine) (a 5070 Ti desktop is 11% faster than a 5090 Laptop/Mobile, but admittedly has 16 GB VRAM). for the rest of the money you could get a much lighter iGPU-only notebook, like a MacBook Air.

if you need 24 GB VRAM, then a used 4090 for 2500, it has the same power efficiency as the RTX 50 series and is much faster:

3dmark.com/search Steel Nomad:
5090 (notebook): Average score: 6220
5070 Ti desktop: Average score: 6929 (+11%)
4090 desktop: Average score: 9228 (+48%)

(an another 24 GB VRAM GPU could have been a 5070 Ti Super using 3 GB GDDR7 memory densities (just like the 5090 Mobile is using 3 GB memory densities on a 256-bit wide memory interface to get 24 GB VRAM), but according to rumors NGREEDIA is holding the 5070 Ti Super back (same chips that are used in the desktop consumer cards, are selling in workstation cards for a much higher price).
too bad that AMDone is not using GDDR7, it's 30% faster on the same memory bus width and hence gives faster prompt processing and 30% faster token generation (this is about AI speed).)

and here is today's news for it, only saw it now:
Quote from: videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-reportedly-discontinuing-rtx-5090-gb202-gpus-to-be-reserved-for-rtx-pro-seriesNVIDIA reportedly discontinuing RTX 5090, GB202 GPUs to be reserved for RTX PRO series

NVIDIA rumored to end RTX 5090 production and replace RTX 5080 16GB with 24GB model

personally i think this is fine because of:
5090: 575W/32GB = 18 TDP Watt per GB
5080: 360W/24GB = 15 TDP Watt per GB (-16.67%)
(5060 Ti 16G: 180W/16GB = 11.25 TDP Watt per GB (-37%))
but i wish it was a 5070 Ti (Super) 24 GB, because it has a lower TDP (yes, but also lower performance)
)

(5090's 575W and that connector i'm really not too keen on melting connector)
