MSI has quietly updated its latest ROG Zephyrus G16 rival. Still featuring Intel's Panther Lake architecture and a 240 Hz OLED display, the latest MSI Stealth 16 can now be configured with Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5070 12GB laptop GPU, too.

[12GB VRAM is good, bc]

the RTX 5070 12GB contains the same 4,608 CUDA cores and 128-bit memory bus as its 8 GB counterpart.

12 GB VRAM is good, because youtube.com/watch?v=ric7yb1VaoA ("Gaming Laptops are in Trouble - VRAM Testing w/ ‪@Hardwareunboxed‬").

By contrast, MSI sells its new RTX 5070 12GB SKU in the Eurozone for €3,399, €100 more than the more powerful RTX 5070 Ti, though.

crazy

A (used) RTX 4070 12GB VRAM in a desktop PC will be much cheaper, upgradable, (PC will be much easier) repairable and quieter.

So I'd, get a desktop PC for gaming and a MacBook Air for everything else.

[Thank you AI]

According to the steam h/w survey the most popular GPU is now the RTX 5070. That's a card which retails for almost $1000. We already knew the budget segment of PC gaming collapsed years ago during COVID and now we're witnessing the same thing happen to midrange or upper midrange.

It's officially over. Gaming is no longer an attainable mainstream hobby for the masses.
