The M6 SoC is Apple's first 2 nm chip for Macs and also the new entry-level chip. Apple managed to improve the performance as well as the efficiency and pretty much destroys the direct competition from AMD, Intel and Qualcomm.

For anyone who wants to use his computer as he pleases e.g. install Linux, and wants to have upgradability and repairability options all Apple products are dead fish in the water.

Apple epitomizes the corporate-lock in to the maximum!

Both Intel & AMD need to drop their prices asap.

If it doesn't run Linux, its usefulness is frankly almost zero for a lot of people. It could take years before Asahi Linux runs on the M6, because they're still struggling to get the M3 functional. Meanwhile Apple will soon begin doing what Motorola does, requiring an ID to prove you are not a child or else they will limit your device.

To be a Citizen means to have political rights, freedoms, and obligations which allow Demos (the electorate) to steer and control the fate of their society. Most of countries do not qualify under this definition, including the west which have replaced Democracy with Plutocracy. So no, Consumers are not Citizens.

I think the following might be a mistake:

We use Cyberpunk 2077 for our GPU efficiency measurements, but until the end of 2025 we used the emulated version on Macs, which also includes the MacBook Pro 14 M5. The only M5 10-core comparison data with the native version of Cyberpunk is from the passively cooled MacBook Air, where the TDP throttles significantly and the overall performance is much lower.

I think you guys were using the native version as the native version was certainly out by then and your performance results correspond well to other sites which used it and your reviews talk about using the native version, e.g. from your M5 MBP review (can't post links yet):

Its gaming performance is similarly impressive, especially when running native games such as Cyberpunk 2077 or Baldur's Gate 3. In addition, its gaming performance remains absolutely consistent.

Also, in terms of Qualcomm I think CP2077 is still technically not native, i.e. it is running under x86 -> ARM translation, as I don't believe there is a native WoA version. However, unlike when the first Snapdragon Elite's were released it doesn't appear that there is as much of a performance hit anymore (and it is just translating the compilation as opposed to the previous non-native Mac version which had to translate a lot more).
