Apple has finally entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo. The book-style handset combines a 5.5-inch outer display with a 7.8-inch folding panel, Apple Pencil support, Touch ID and the new 2 nm A20 Pro SoC.

Cute expensive toy.

I say this as an iPhone user, it looks great and it has Apple quality all over it, but I really don't see the use case.

And the price.. well, all foldables are expensive, so an Apple one will be even more expensive (starting at CA$3000 ouch).

I was surprised by the video showing ganky animations showing transitions between apps and screens. Like, pretty bad.  I haven't seen animations like that since the mid-2010's.

Holding the phone like many foldables expanded seems like an afterthought.  Cool conceptually, not so cool in frequent use.

It'll sell well to the rich, it'll probably take top marketshare because Apple's eccosystem is ubiquitous, but it's not even worth another look based on first impressions from someone who uses my phone more casually than as a lifeline.  It doesn't even show movies/shows properly, which would be most of the use-case for a wider/larger display!
