With the price of ram going through the roof I was ready to buy a PS5 as a way to play upcoming games without having the expense of a PC. But I use my consoles as much or more as a bluray player than as a game console so I have zero interest in a digital only console. I also regularly 'recirculate' hardware reselling things to get money for my next purchase. Phyisical games add resale value, digital games do not. So the move to digital greatly impacts resale values for everyones console.
Digital games don't have any production or shipping costs but you know they aren't going to reduce prices. Their move to digital is a way for them to maximize profits while eliminating the resale market.
I get why they are making this move, its just not a road I will follow them down.
