Acer unveils repairable Panther Lake laptop with 3K OLED display and upgradeable CPU

Acer has introduced the Vero 16 at IFA 2026 with a strong focus on repairability. The laptop offers tool-free internal access, a user-replaceable battery and SSD, removable port covers, a detachable hinge, and, most interestingly, the option to upgrade the processor across at least two generations.

Looked on another site and it says the whole motherboard (CPU and RAM) can be "upgraded" by paying them to replace it at service centers and not like the laptops of old with socketed CPUs and DIMM slots. Yawn...
