A new Raspberry Pi alternative is now available. The compact 2.0 x 2.2-inch board from OrangePi supports lightweight AI workloads and features Gigabit Ethernet, among other connectivity options.

You can praise the performance of the OrangePi but we  shouldn't be naive about the broader context behind part of China's tecnology industry. China has a long history of appropriating and in many documented cases, stealing Western technology and intellectual property which is the base for their mannufacturing powerhouse used to flood our markets with low cost products while our capacity was gradually eroded.
 On top of that, there are serious well documented allegations of human rights abuses and forced labour in their supply chain particularly in Xinjiang.
 You can enjoy the cheap hardware but remember that there is a much bigger price behind the bargain.
