Employees who once planned to retire at Bethesda say Microsoft's ownership brought something the studio had never had before: annual layoffs.

When did Bethesda last release anything of any real quality?  Starfield was a boring empty mess. Hi-Fi Rush was decent, but they only published it, then sold the studio!
Now Microsoft are handing Fallout off to Obsidian, a company that actually puts out games, other than Bethesda who want to be saved from the evil layoffs. Put out more games, put out less broken messes and your studio will thrive.

Their games got so bad they needed to restructure the whole company or face shutting down eventually. You have to make games people want to buy to survive.
