A new report shows Windows 11's built-in Weather app can consume more than 1 GB of RAM. By comparison, Apple's native Weather app on macOS uses roughly five times less memory under similar conditions.

Ah the joys of unnecessarily wrapping all apps in chromium container, thank you Microsoft

The fact that a "good" weather app "only" consumes 250MB of memory says a lot as well.

It should use 10-20 MB of RAM at most.

What the hell is it doing with the other 1000 MB?

Windows does not need a built in weather app. Or 95% of the other bloat it ships with. If you want to check the weather do it on an Internet browser.

Probably collecting data. Like Google apps. Google clock and calculator have alot of background use on some devices sometimes. And for what? Apps like that don't need any form of background use or high ram usage unless the company has some evil hidden motive.

I guess it's only waste if you don't use it, but if you don't use it why are you leaving it installed? Sounds like it's as much the fault of the operator as it is the distributor of the OS.
