The Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold will be officially unveiled in a few days, along with the rest of the Pixel 11 series and the Pixel Watch 5. Google is now showcasing its next-generation foldable flagship in a teaser video featuring a slogan whose irony seems to have escaped Google's marketing team.

Must be grasping for headlines to not realize the slogan is for switchers from other devices.

Anyway the base point is true. I used to "switch" every year but not for 10 series and maybe not 11, still on 9pro. I probably would switch for the minor upgrades, but Google's lack of real promises around privacy and now trying to put ads in their wallet make me spend more time thinking about switching away.

I did recently re-discover the value of the 9, 10 pro thermometer, so thank you to the people who snuck a genuinely useful feature in to help me monitor a terrible fever, but the people above them with more desperate connections will probably deprecate it or jam it with surveillance in a future version. It's the vestige of genuine innovation.
