As for the software, it's the biggest drawback of current Moto, I like the Razr, but I switched to the 40Ultra instead of natural progression of F4 to 5 and while I liked a lot of new 'upgrades' after just a coupla months I regretted it due to the delayed software/update rollouts that saw Razrs get Android versions almost a year after Flips and trailing serious security patches by sometimes months. Sold it and went back to Flip 5 which meant I was annoyed at both because I knew Samsung could do better (especially on cover screen), but just couldn't deal with Moto support.
MoTo has improved, but they still kinda suck at Software support, increasing to 7 years support is longer than needed (even though 3 years was too little, 5 woulda been a good balance, but the market standard is 7 so if they are doing it to be like everyone else..), in all honesty longevity is usually for people buying last year's model at a discount that need the extra 12-18 months on the software clock, flips are less likely to ever see that far (though I'm sure many people will crow about how long theirs lasts, it's not the norm) and hardware will likely wear-out or the upgrade bug will bite, long before the clock runs out.
The problem isn't as much whether it's 3 or 7 years of mediocre software support, the more important thing is the quality of that support, not how long you suffer through it.
