Anyone who owns an LG smart TV must inform all guests and family members that they are being monitored – this is required by LG's current terms of use. Meanwhile, LG monitors install potential malware and surveillance software on a connected Windows computer.

Offloading the responsibility for following "wiretapping, eavesdropping and privacy laws" onto the customer sounds - beyond being incredibly scummy behaviour - borderline illegal. You can't just wash your hands clean of any shitty business practice by updating your ToS.

so why do we have a TV Mike?

The same reason people had tvs since they were invented? Doesn't mean we have to give every shred of our personal and private lives to corporations to be data points to sell us more crap we don't need. Connecting tvs to WiFi has always been foolish considering their bandwidth consumption alone. Unless you don't mind whomever taking screenshots of your TV every half second. And they're saying that bs is bypassed by side loaded bloatware on your laptop should you plug it in your tv. This is a disgusting and revolting act by LG.
