Lenovo has released a new 16-inch ThinkPad with Intel Wildcat Lake processors. Available internationally, the cheaper ThinkPad E16 Gen 4 can also be configured with up to 32 GB of RAM, a 120 Hz display and a higher-capacity battery than standard.

That's quite a regression, I have 128GB RAM in my E16 G3.

It's barely enough for the current SOTA model huggingface.co/unsloth/Qwen3.6-35B-A3B-MTP-GGUF UD-Q4_K_XL (22.9 GB) for their size:
32 GB RAM - 8 GB for the OS itself = 24 GB free for fitting an AI LLM model.
24 GB - 22.9 = ~1 GB. 1 GB is enough for about 16,000 context tokens[1].

Another confirmation:

Agentic workflows often require over 100,000 of tokens. Hence, ("Productname AI") laptops really need to have at least 48 GB RAM.

"up to 32 GB" does not even allow upgrading to 2 x 24 GB RAM.
