Built my own PCs for 3 decades. Never thought I'd get a console.
Somewhere around age 40ish, I stopped giving a sh*t about ultimate performance and specs, and just wanted as seamless an experience as possible. I guess the drive to build faded, ultimately.
Steam Deck gifted to me. I found it incredibly clunky and niche. I played maybe 3 games before putting it down for good. (Battery life was a joke, BTW. Portable gaming for maybe 2 hours? Why bother?)
Got a PS5Pro, and have had a blast with minimal fuss. Power it on and I'm gaming. ~$100/year for thousands of games, fully patched and working.
If the Steam Machine says "Sorry this game might have compatibility issues" for even one game it's not ever going to be a consideration for me, even though I love open source, Steam, and gaming. It just isn't a consideration. And the specs suck.
Sticking with PS5 Pro until PS6 pro.
