AI demand, driven by Nvidia's need for high-bandwidth memory, is transforming the once-stagnant memory chip market into one of tech's hottest sectors. The boom is increasing revenue and share prices, but it is also tightening supplies of conventional DRAM and NAND, raising the prospect of higher prices for PCs, smartphones and other consumer devices through at least 2028.

Just hope when these data centres do upgrade to HBM they put throw out the normal memory which we can scrape to use on our systems.

But they're already are? HBM data centres still use massive amounts of regular dram too.
