Hi everyone,
I'm trying to understand the role of a
sound mixer in an audio setup, but I'm still a bit confused about what it actually does in practice. I know it's used to manage audio signals, but I'd like a clearer idea of how it works in real-world situations.
What exactly does a sound mixer do in a setup? For example, how does it handle multiple inputs like microphones, instruments, or audio sources? What are the main functions—like adjusting levels, EQ, effects, or routing?
Also, in what situations is a mixer really necessary (home studio, live events, podcasts, etc.), and when can you get by without one?
I'd really appreciate any simple explanations, examples, or tips.
Thanks in advance!
