"We hurt AMD's feelings": Not even Gamers Nexus got Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 as AMD keeps review samples from many in media

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is here. The CPU features 16x Zen 5 cores, two 3D V-Cache chiplets, and an up to 5.6 GHz boost clock. This is all sounds fantastic on paper. However, AMD has reportedly been very stingy with Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 review samples, as even Gamers Nexus didn't get one.

Fascinating.  Seems pretty clear the market has shifted (very, very quickly) from consumer-focused to data-center focused, as that is where the mass profit is right now.  And AMD(and many others) sees profit before it's own guidelines/policies, so it's no wonder they are abandoning giving review samples or communication to the small PC/gaming markets.

It seems worthless to buy a PC new these days, beyond a few key areas that might be driven by profit for the end-user.  I've been watching benchmarks for years and the performance increases are nowhere near the cost-increases, so it's a no-brainer:  I'm not upgrading.

Greed trumps all, as they say.  I wonder when humility will catch up with these organizations?

Fascinating to watch.

Yep, you summed it up perfectly in this whole quote (the bold part especially). I was just watching that new Framework Laptop 13 Pro yesterday, not that I need it but I would really want it because all it's missing there is the TrackPoint to be basically perfect (for me). But holy hell, the cost is 2399€ for a prebuilt with X7 358H / 32GB / 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, which is crazy high. The specs are excellent, sure, but the value simply isn't there currently, just as you commented.

It could have to do with Steve's professionalism... Just sayin... There's a reason I stopped tuning in, a technician/enthusiast of 36 years. Somewhere around pandemic; some of us forgot about respect and professionalism, opting in favor of freedom of speech with no filter.
