Asus has finally released its first AMD Strix Halo gaming laptop in the UK. Equipped with a Radeon 8060S iGPU and Ryzen AI Max+ 392 APU, the TUF Gaming A14 FA401EA ships with a 165 Hz display and a 73 Wh battery, too.

Don't get scammed

Imagine getting this outdated RDNA3.5 APU that can't do modern, DLSS-like, hardware ML upscaling, like RDNA4 can.

The leaked FSR4 INT8 looks so much better on RDNA3 / RDNA3.5, than what RDNA3 / RDNA3.5 officially support, but AMD is quiet about it (they are not the good guys (anymore/if they ever were)):

Precisely. This laptop is way too expensive too. It needs a 33% price cut to be competitive. No more than $1299 for 32GB. What does a 16GB Radeon GPU even offer over the competing 8GB 5060?

Blimey

This is actually more reasonable pricing than I thought it'd be. Considering it's £1649 for 12 core 392 version and the cheaper 8 core 388 version is yet to be released.

Usually, we get copy and paste US pricing here despite the currency differences.

Hopefully they don't delay the launch of 388 variant long and it's closer to £1299 pricing.

Although I have to say, the £1299 RTX 5060 TUF A14 laptops here are paired with much weaker Ryzen 7 350 CPU. So I guess Asus would justify up selling this based on the faster CPU as the advantage.

I wonder if the battery drain issue has been fixed yet too. Crimson tech did a review of this and wasn't getting as good battery life compared to the ProArt PX13 (another Asus halo laptop with same battery capacity).
