A new report has revealed that Microsoft has no plans to match Asus by adopting Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme chipset. Instead, the next Surface Pro and Surface Laptop will be limited to its Snapdragon X2 Plus and Snapdragon X2 Elite chipsets as an earlier rumour suggested.

So they will be slower than competitors to save costs, but at the same time pricier. That's the plan to win the market!

The whole purpose of the Surface brand is just falling apart. The vision seems lost. No top tier Intel or Qualcomm CPUs this year and prices that are higher than the partners. Add to that no innovation and then where is the reason to even consider Surface devices? It's easy to understand why Panos needed a change. Microsoft has lost touch with the Brand and those that purchase it. I've loved the Surface Pro's for many years, my daughter had a Surface Book and it was a great device and my other daughter has a maxed out Surface Laptop 7 and loves it but now 2026 doesn't deliver and it's been a trend in general for the Surface line. Hate to see the brand so out of touch. Maybe MS will just kill it as they don't seem to have the desire to Demonstrate the BEST that Windows + Hardware can be anymore.
