OneXPlayer has shared initial details about its next gaming handheld. A rival to the Legion Go 2, the OneXPlayer X2 Mini will be far more powerful than Lenovo's latest handheld thanks to AMD's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chipset.

Oi

The problem with these handhelds is you need to pay import duty when buying them. Adds hundreds to the cost.

And the terrible build quality where your battery or screen cable will decouple or worse. Worse thermals, basically frying your hands. No way to service it if it breaks which it will. Meaningless warranty which will be ignored. Overpriced poor quality accessories (keyboard keys flying off) to pay extra for that should come included (controller middle). Horrible tablet ergonomics (square design digging into your hands and attahced controllers have no weight / feel like they will break off).

Oh and they will release a new better one in half a year and the one you bought will be worthless due to above issues.

But otherwise it's great.

Do NOT get this. They've been known for shoddy build quality, huge import fees, and if anything goes wrong, good luck, because you're not receiving help.

Difficult to recommend

How is everyone commenting on this as it's not even out yet? Unless ya'll previously has experiences with other onexplayer devices?

I feel like many of the issues stated above could mitigated depending on the store buy from (i.e. Indiegogo campaign vs Amazon)

Surprised to hear concerns about build quality too. The few reviews (who aren't sponsored and paid - bought with their own money) on YouTube that reviewed the onexfly apex stated it had higher build quality compared to something like Asus Xbox Rog ally x.

I think they stated that they try to disclose the item as a lower value item so you only have to pay small tax fee of like 70-80. But it probably depends on your region and your countries local laws.

And AMD is quiet about

And the fact that since this has a RDNA3.5 iGPU and not RDNA4, know: The leaked FSR4 INT8 looks on RDNA3/RDNA3.5 so much better than what RDNA3 / RDNA3.5 officially support, but AMD is quiet about it:
youtube.com/watch?v=VPMOjdvmHMk "FSR4 on RDNA3 on Windows!!! How To Guide and Side by Sides Tested on RX 7800 XT"
youtube.com/watch?v=yB0qmTCzrmI "AMD Tried To Hide This From You - FSR 4 INT8 on RDNA 3 & 2 Tested"

youtube.com/watch?v=v70p700D94U And here Owen shows that even AMD's /r/radeon hardcore crowd is starting to get pissed off on AMD for also not releasing FSR4 INT8 (and righteously so, of course).

Imagine getting a gaming device that can't do hardware ML, DLSS-like, quality upscaling (especially in a handheld device, where upscaling is really useful): in a handheld), because it doesn't have RDNA4 iGPU architecture. Way to waste ur money.
