Despite it being an aging Zen 3 CPU, the Ryzen 7 7735HS can sometimes outperform the recently launched Zen 5 Ryzen AI 7 445 in certain situations.

The performance discrepancy between the two CPUs can be partly attributed to the larger number of cores on the Ryzen 7 7735HS than on the Ryzen AI 7 445 (8 vs. 6)

So, it's 6 vs 8 cores, the Watt on the Ryzen 445 could have been lower, so it's not a fair comparison in this sense. But it's still good to know that upgrading is not really necessary:

[macOS terrible for emus]

Despite the high ipc of apples CPU cores they're still the worst platform for emulators. Partly because of smaller userbase so less devs test for the platform to debug issues and also partly due to worse gfx drivers / not supporting the APIs that every other OS does natively (e.g. vulkan).

And that's taking about retro gaming from decades ago not even modern gaming.

Literally the only reason to get an air is because everyone has gone ape sheet insane on pricing and 0 availability making apple seem the more reasonable option.
