Gaming handhelds are mainly used for action games and relaxed indie adventures. However, the Steam Deck is surprisingly well suited to real-time strategy games such as Stronghold - so well, in fact, that I have already played over 600 hours of RTS games on the Steam Deck.

Hi Mr Glibson, I did personally not try Total War, but the Steam Decks controller customization is flexible enough to make most games work. You just need to spend a few minutes to configure it.

Touchpad abuser

It would be better if this article made it more clear that this is only an option for slower paced rts / turned based games and offline single player campaign / skirmish or online vs bots at best, not competitive PvP matches.

I say this as a touchpad abuser and rts player myself. Although I play using laptop touchpad as I personally find the decks touchpads too small in surface area to be comfortable and offer enough precise control.
