Gamers are afraid that the PS6 and new Xbox console will stretch even generous budgets. The PS5 price increase has made the prospect of upgrading to the Sony and Microsoft consoles frightening. Multiple analysts expect that the PS6 and Project Helix could cost buyers $1000 or more.

This is the beginning of the end  for gaming consoles  from Xbox and Sony , no casual fan is going to blow $1000 on a console, it was a good run

This is always said but sales continue to do well. Remember the outcry on switch 2 pricing? PS5 still sells well too.

Not like PC gaming is any better. Minimum you need for a decent desktop that's notably faster than a console or at least equal is $1500 now. For laptops it's pretty much $2k provided you want something with good build quality / high end chassis + good gpu..

Also "no casual fan is going to blow $1000"? They already do. People already spend that much on smartph0nes. The mobile android / iOS  market is the casual market.

We'll see. If sales completely collapse (like they have for Xbox but unlike Sony or Nintendo) they they will have to act. And they're acting but to me, not to consumer response or anything but paying hundreds of millions to develop AAA games is just no longer sustainable. Even with the price increases, it's still not fund the studios producing the games, which is why we're seeing them shut down recently.
