Pixel 10a is a textbook definition of the “e-waste” we don’t need in the world

E-waste... What a ludicrous take.

As someone who upgrades their phone when it needs it, not just because something new and shiny comes along, the 10a was a great upgrade on the 7a.

My battery in the 7a was now insufficient for a full day (I blame wireless charging...) but otherwise in perfect condition. I got an AUD$300 trade in. I got 256gb I really needed now and a much brighter screen for outdoor daytime use - my two 'must haves' for my next phone upgrade after the 7a ownership experience.

I also got satellite SOS - a very nice to have feature for an outdoorsy person in a place like Australia.

What the world doesn't need is the sort of mentality that requires an upgrade to the newest, shiniest phone as soon as it comes along, even though the old one is quite serviceable. Journalists like you could maybe reflect on your role in promoting such a wasteful practice and the amount of e-waste it generates.
