A Reddit demo shows the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X paired with an Orbbec 336L sensor running Dot3D software to map full indoor spaces in real time. The setup delivers detailed scans, although the cost and workflow can still limit wider use.

I use a Lenovo Legion Go with a Creality Otter for portable object scanning muck like the rig in this article. Not tried it for area scanning though. $1000/yr for the processing software seems steep unless it's for commercial use. For that I'm getting a 3DMakerPro Raven LiDAR scanner which I got for $1000 outright but hope to process the point clouds on my Go.

BTW, the sensor in the article isn't LiDAR like the Raven or iDevices, it's IR stereoscopic imaging that gets converted into a point cloud by the camera's SDK.
