Nvidia DLSS has so far mainly been used to improve the performance of games by scaling them to a higher resolution and even generating entire frames using artificial intelligence. DLSS 5 now goes a huge step further, giving games an AI-slop look that is said to be "groundbreaking".

This looks insane. Even though it still needs work, I'll turn it on when playing a game.

Not the creator's intent, so personally not a fan...

Buuuut... These past few years very little creators made anything worth playing, so... (shrug)

no one want these lazy AI slop textures in gaming and it's only going to fuel the PC affordability crisis even further. the data centers hosting these useless AI models (at least the ones that have actually been built) will be defunct and empty husks once the ai bubble implodes. by 2030, no one will care about ai.

I'm on both sides of this but would the naysayers say otherwise if they showed the same visuals but said it was running native off a 6090 with an MSRP that matches the model number of the card if the trends stay consistent?

I like DLSS tech in handhelds, but I see where it's going. Instead of creating high polygon models with hi-res textures, everyone will be relying on AI to adjust the image to the modern standard (which is cheaper than hire talented people to do this). And then DLSS will become a monthly subscription, additional to the 2000$ graphics card. That's our future...
