Apple literally advertises the iPhone 17e as a "good deal". However, the brand-new entry-level iPhone makes far more compromises than it initially appears. Since the iPhone 17 costs "only" $200 more, these occasionally serious disadvantages of the iPhone 17e should be weighed up before purchasing.

Unless you dirt poor and just want a Apple device you are probably better off buying a good refurb iPhone 16 or 17 then a 17e or any Apple base product. Apple simply compromises too much on these base model devices and resale value is also not good. I am a big Apple product user, and have had my share of buying the cheapest Apple products. They always disappoint in some ways which is what Apple intended. They don't want to sell you their cheapest products, they want you to buy their mid tier level or higher products. The ones that make them the most profit. It's like that base model vehicle, that skimps on most features people want. Its there to convince you to buy that next tier with all the bells and whistles. The MacBook NEO is the same, nice notebook but compromises a lot to get to that price.
