0th world problem if I ever heard one, given that the average new cellphone price world-wide is $350.
Also, why even set a limit? "If you're too poor to own an expensive cellphone, then suffer with garbage phones!"
The price difference isn't parts anymore, it's markup. ALL new cellphones should have reliable biometrics, not just the expensive ones.

Nhf but I stopped reading right here because this is incorrect (to generalise as broadly as you did, at least). My phone (Nothing (3a)) unlocks as soon as I touch it even on a quick tap, faster than I can react. There is no perceivable delay when compared to my friend's iPhone 16 Pro and do I care if the 16 Pro unlock 2 ms faster (while both under 30 ms and no it is not faster because you have to look at it)? Absolutely not. It's as fast as both of my ThinkPads with their physical scanners - instant.
