Dell XPS 14 Core Ultra 7 355 review: Still great, but not nearly as special

Users who don't need the much-improved graphics horsepower of the Core Ultra X7 will find the less expensive Core Ultra 7 option much more attractive especially if upgrading from an older XPS 13 or XPS 14 model.

3 times fewer cores (4 vs 12), and not too far from being 3 times slower (2.4 times = 7043/2951). Unfortunately this iGPU perf is nothing special.

The XPS version with a lower res IPS screen, the same battery capacity and, as shown in the table, lower power consumption, still has over 2 hours less battery life than the version with a more power-hungry processor and OLED panel? Are you sure this isn't a mistake?

Pro premium 13 from Dell 24h in wifi test, xps14 with much more advanced CPU and screen and bigger battery 14h.

Additionally: heavy & with throttling.

It looks, that Dell doesn't have  engineers anymore or Intel Panther Lake is not very good.

Motherboard with everything upside should have better thermals than previous designs. With such "evolution" people will look more and more into Apple and  Chinese models. We can also see, how reality look in comparison to initial YouTube vibe.

What a dog of a laptop.

- IPS panel with snail-like response times? check
- 'next-gen' CPU inferior to Lunar Lake both perf wise and temp wise? check
- overpriced for what it offers? check

no thx

I found the graphics performance interesting for an entry-level processor, similar to the 860M in the Ryzen AI 7 350.

A good improvement of almost 40% compared to the Intel Graphics 4-Core iGPU (Meteor / Arrow Lake).

It's all a matter of expectation, and this iGPU was never a replacement for 140T/140V...

The graphics performance is similar to the Radeon 860M (+45W) while consuming 30W.

glad to see my boys X and keep this s888 sounding out below! keep fighting the good fight!

anyway yes, another very poor showing by dell. once again they cannot make a laptop that weighs an appropriate amount (0.7kg is not a lot to ask... like 99% of all laptops are lighter than that) and somehow the battery is even worse without oled. imo this one is because of dell software. graphics are somehow also even more abysmal than the b390 - i ernestly have no idea how they made it so bad.

also it''s so laughable that yet AGAIN this laptop cannot sustain the panther lake peak power draw!!! it throttles down to "SUSTAINED"!!! just a way for them to avoid admiting failure. no laptop should EVER throttle under any circumstance. and they put in fans AGAIN!!! what a joke.

at this point, i think its fair to say that dell should probably just exit the laptop buisness. they clearly do not know what they are doing. they need to consult pppl like me, X and the keep guy. we are aware.

In some other sites there are quite different results.

It leads to the questions:

- which testing procedures give real results? Do we have anywhere problem with bios, drivers or windows?

- are any tests in internet done with selects? (Specially selected or prepared for tests)

- should be this model released for CES? Is this beta version or what?

And in the end:

- can Dell make models so good like these from Asia or Clevo?

- should we see the same thing every year?

Quotesignificantly improved design over last generation XPS 14
only usb-c ports!? and still half a kilo heavier than the competitors!?
total fail the design.

and why is the matte screen not under the PROs?
and there are AGAIN no photos from the matte display under normal conditions and not only under bright sunlight!
this author keeps to be completely incompetent like in all his reviews.
