Highguard turned out to be a failure for Wildlight Entertainment, and according to the former Lead Tech Artist at Wildlight, the game was labeled a failure before it ever had a fair chance.

"At launch, we received over 14k review bombs from users with less than an hour of playtime. Many didn't even finish the required tutorial."

While I have ZERO interest in this type of game I have to wonder how many (if any?) of the 'review bombs' were an effort funded by other stake holders in the genre?

There are many "botfarms" out there and many of them are rentable.

There were also major technical hiccups for the first day(s) so many reviews were negative because a lot of players couldn't get past the start screen.

Pretty much 100% bots. No one can give an extensive negative review about the game with "0.1 hours played" as it happened with that game (and many others actually).

It was a garbage game. It was shadowdropped as the Next Big Thing(tm) during the Game Awards. Proceeded to show that it was nothing but a by-the-numbers looter-shooter with one very uninteresting gimmick. Proceeded to spend zero time between the TGAs and release to market itself (no commercials, very little social media posts). They made a bad product, knew it was a bad product and didn't market it because of that, and then shipped it. Nobody in that studio, former employee or otherwise, has any right to cry about how it turned out.

This was just a highly produced but mediocre game

The core loop was weird af and not engaging

The weapons were boring and uninspired

The gunplay was average and nothing stood out

The characters were not likeable

The concept and lore the game was built around was boring

I saw it announced at the game awards and said 'i'll try it'

I played through the tutorial and a couple rounds and left a negative review because Highguard was not it

They had a chance and they released a crap game, simple as that

Yes, correct. That's me, how did you know? It's nice when you live in a 100% binary world, right? It's either 0 or 1, no any possible third option. Then again, I have no idea who the guy is, never heard about the game until this post here, yet I did something unimaginable - I went to check the reviews, filtered for negative only and saw a tremendous amount of those with less than "0.5 hours on record". You really doesn't have to be a genius to do that, you just need to be capable to, well, think on at least a basic level on your own. It's hard, I know, so rather stay in zeros and ones 👍

Edit: Here, to help you because doing the same is too difficult for you (again, I know, I know, it's hard): https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198000039485/recommended/4128260/

"0.1 hrs on record", (that's 6 minutes, to help you with that too), it took them more time to write the review and "tinker with BIOS", than to "play" the game (mind you, Steam is logging play time from the moment you hit the green button before the game even launches). There are hundreds of negative reviews just like that if you just bother to open your eyes and actually read. But I'm Sobel's hands, yep, yep...

I hope they're paying you well to shill this hard.

Who? Am I not Sobel (so I'm paying myself?), as you said before? Don't overthink it, friend. You might thermal throttle your brain. Stay in the safe sub-50 IQ binary-thinking zone.
