The Oura Ring 4 is one of the most interesting smart rings on the market in terms of features and design, but the nearly mandatory subscription probably puts some customers off. Oura is now defending this subscription model and has confirmed that there are no plans to remove the paywall.

Between the inaccurate readings, the terrible customer service, and the steep price tag- this ring was a HUGE regret on my part.
I've had nothing but trouble in trying to get the issues Ive had with the unit resolved. On many occasions, I was told the inaccurate readings were due to "cold fingers". This is ironic to me, as I work as a chef and my hands and fingers are very rarely cold when I'm working. It seemed like a cheap cop-out answer, and that they were just looking to dismiss my concerns as something that was MY fault. They did offer to send another ring, as this was all within two months of purchasing the ring and it was still under warranty. But, this means I've used the "one replacement" that the warranty offers. The ring is very good looking, don't get me wrong. But, the major flaws are all functional and therefore spend a small fortune on this AND THEN NEEDING TO PAY A SUBSCRIPTION ON TOP OF THAT is insulting and ridiculous. The readings you get are not accurate, so don't bank on them being useful for tracking your health and wellbeing. All around, very dissatisfied.
