I'm not sure this is true, because you yourself measured the power efficiency to be on par with the predecessor.

So, the only reason, why PTL would throttle less, is due to either software [allowing for higher temperature], or better cooling.

Time will tell, I suppose, but I sincerely doubt this is the case. The 255H was priced like the 155H and in similar builds, so it can be said to have been replaced. On the other hand, I doubt this processor will be anything like that cheap. The Strix Halo specialized AMD processors with dedicated graphics-like performance never came down from stratosphere pricing. That's why it is fair to compare the 285H's graphics to the Radeon 890M but not to the Radeon 8060s, because they were not addressing the same market segment.
We'll find out when someone tells us what they cost.

Exactly

'nerds' say/compare: Strix Halo is a 256-bit APU at 8000 MT/s and Panther Lake is a 128-bit APU at 9600 MT/s and in this bandwidth=GPU performance sense, Strix Halo is/should be superior.
'normies' compare: price-to-perf, mostly.

Exactly.

rich S

devs are so lazy and rely on brute forcing these days....So we sould all spend 2 grand every year to upgrade.
no, new cpus should have a much longer life between releases. Devs stop being lazy
