In a recent interview, a VP at Micron has shed light on the company's decision of withdrawing from the consumer storage and memory market by pulling the plug on its Crucial brand. While the AI gold rush is undeniably lucrative for large companies, it appears that the average consumer is getting hammered in the process.

The sad part is - all of this demand for data-center hardware will tapper out at some point. But the resulting overcapacity might not help regular consumers. Since they will likely  have a bunch of enterprise grade hardware and manufacturing lines. That will not be offloaded onto a consumer market that easily.
